Dental Implants

Dental Implants are the closest treatment you can receive in order to achieve a natural looking and functioning replacement for your teeth.

Dental implants can replace a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth, a whole arch of missing teeth and can be used to support dentures.  They can be placed at the time of extraction or after an extraction socket has healed, depending on the timing and indication for the procedure.  Dental implants may at times require bone or soft tissue grafting or augmentation to ensure they have a higher chance of long term success.  Just like natural teeth excellent oral hygiene and regular maintenance appointments are imperative to maintain the integrity of dental implants.

At Higgins Dental we are able to complete the treatment in house from the placement of the implant itself to the attachment of the prosthetic (crown/bridge/denture).  Dr. Phillips has engaged with multiple post graduate courses including a Post Graduate Diploma in Dental Implantology from the Cambridge Academy of Oral Implantology, is a member of the International Team for Oral Implantology (ITI), completed an Advanced Dental Implant Surgery course certified by the World Academy of Ultrasonic Piezoelectric Bone Surgery and International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and as such has qualified for Fellowship with ICOI.  Dr Phillips has also attended the International Congress for Oral Implantology (ICOI) World Congress in 2023, as well as attending the International Team for Oral Implantology Congress 2023.  Dr. Phillips is able to offer his patients a wide range of treatment options when placing dental implants to ensure that even the more complex cases are able to be safely and effectively managed at Higgins Dental.

The process of getting dental implants varies depending on each individual case.  At Higgins Dental we believe in comprehensive care for all our patients and as such a comprehensive consultation and assessment is required for all patients who wish to receive implant treatment.  We will assess the jaw joints, your remaining teeth and gum health and determine the quality and quantity of bone at the planned implant sites.  This will allow a bespoke comprehensive treatment plan and care plan post implant placement to be developed and discussed with each patient.
