Root Canal Therapy

Root Canal Therapy is a treatment offered to try and save a tooth from an extraction. A Root Canal Treatment may be required if decay in a tooth has reached the nerve, if there is a history of deep/ large fillings causing symptoms, if an infection or abscess is present or due to trauma to the tooth.

The treatment involves cleaning, debriding, and sealing the root canal system of the tooth.  This process is generally completed over 2-3 appointments. Depending on the tooth there can be a single canal or multiple canals which we often find with molar teeth.

Although Root Canal Therapy often has the reputation of being painful, it is usually the pain associated with the infection present or existing damage to the nerve that is painful and not the treatment itself.  As always we will prioritise your care and comfort throughout the procedure.
