fillings

Fillings are required when teeth become compromised due to decay, cracks or are broken down.  When this happens there is a need to replace the missing tooth structure to ensure continued functionality and prevent the risk of further damage.  Fillings enable us to either replace the compromised tooth structure or stop the disease that is causing the decay.  There are two types of fillings; direct fillings such as tooth-coloured composite materials or indirect fillings such as ceramics.

Composite fillings are a natural looking material used to restore the original contour of the tooth for small and medium side cavities or broken teeth. Composite material can also be used to correct the colour and shape of teeth. Sometimes with heavily broken down teeth a stronger option may be needed such as a ceramic restoration. Your dentist will discuss the best treatment option for you.
